Lanell Ohlinger leads the human resources business partners responsible for the supermarket divisions, retail operations and corporate administrative teams. She serves as a connector to the business creating a holistic people strategy that supports the company‘s strategy.

Ohlinger's team is responsible for day-to-day support and coaching for all levels in talent development, employee relations, performance management and organizational design. She leads the company’s workforce strategy for the corporate office.

Ohlinger began her career with Kroger in 2000 as a co-manager in the Michigan division. Since then, she has held many leadership roles within the division, including grocery coordinator, store manager and labor relations manager. She was promoted to HR leader for the Michigan division in 2011 and relocated to Cincinnati to take on her role as director of human resources at the general office in 2014. She was later promoted to vice president of business unit human resources in 2016. In 2017, she was named vice president of talent development and to her current role in 2020.

Ohlinger is the recipient of the 2014 Progressive Grocer Top Women in Grocery Rising Star Award. She also received the 2004 Presidents Award from Kroger’s Michigan division. She served as a board member for the Wayne State External Advisory Labor Board, chairman of the trust for the Michigan UFCW Union and Employers Joint Prepaid Legal Fund, and trustee on the Health and Welfare Fund for Michigan UFCW Unions and Employers Health and Welfare Plan, as well as a member of Cincinnati’s Chamber of Commerce Leadership Cincinnati Class 40 and Adopt A Class. In 2018, Ohlinger joined the board of directors for the American Red Cross–Cincinnati/Dayton Region.

Ohlinger earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Adrian College.
