Dr. Stephen Covell is an affiliated faculty member of the global and international studies program at Western Michigan University and serves on the program's Faculty Advisory Council. He is on sabbatical for the 2017-18 academic year.
Is chair of the Department of Comparative Religion and director of the study abroad Japanese Religion and Culture Seminar. He was founding director of the Soga Japan Center at Western Michigan University.
Covell has over 10 years experience of living and conducting research in Japan including stints as a research associate at Taisho University, the Institute for Asian Cultural Studies at International Christian University and the University of Tokyo.
