Stephanie Haft is a current Ph.D. student in clinical psychology in the department of clinical psychology at Western Michigan University. She does research within the Trauma Lab. She is interested in the impact of linguistic and cultural factors on mental health assessment and intervention, with a particular focus on trauma survivors. Her interest in cultural diversity and exploration has taken her to 30 countries around the globe, having opportunities to work, conduct research, study, and train in Panama, Mexico, Peru, Israel, Slovakia, and Spain. Haft intends on developing tools to be implemented in the mental health setting that are both culturally-informed and linguistically appropriate. In 2016, Haft earned a doctoral fellowship from the WMU Graduate College for her pursuit of research within this diverse context.
Haft enjoys solo travel, cooking, learning new languages, scuba diving, dancing, and doing something “brave” every day. This spirit of adventure, courage, warmth, and openness to experience are an asset to the Western Michigan community.
