How to Use Your Bronco NetID

Your Bronco NetID is your Western Michigan University username for all major systems, including GoWMU, Elearning and W-Exchange. Coupled with your password, it gives you access to WMU online and communication services, such as:

  • Registering for classes
  • Viewing grades
  • Accessing financial account information
  • Email, electronic file space, and personal Web space
  • Registration for computers on wired and wireless networks. 

Bronco NetIDs are issued with a link to establish a password which must be created before the account can be used. To create your password, you will need to enter a new password, select a security word and image, and create a challenge phrase. The challenge phrase can be used to reset your password if you forget it.

Your Email Address

Your email address is generated at the time your account is created. It is in the format of first.lastname at for faculty and staff. The student format and the format used for faculty and staff who have the same first and last names as other faculty and staff, is first.middleinitial.lastname at This is your official WMU email address and all official WMU communications will be sent to you at this address.
