Registering Your Computer to Use WMUnet

WMUNet is the wired network located in the academic buildings on campus. All computers being used at Western Michigan University must be registered to use WMUnet, Western's wired network. Please see Connecting to ResNet if you are connecting in a residential building.

Registering your Computer

  1. Connect the computer to the WMUNet network using an Ethernet cable and open a web browser. You should be automatically redirected to the WMUNet registration page.
  2. Review the Acceptable Use Policy and click Agree
  3. Click Register this device with your Bronco NetID
  4. Provide your Bronco NetID and password
  5. Click Register
  6. Wait 5 minutes and reboot your device. Your device is now registered

Registering Other Internet Connected Devices on the Network (TVs, game consoles. etc.)

Your device must first be connected to the WMUNet network for a short period of time (~ 1 minute) before it can be registered. Once that has been done, it can be unplugged for the duration of the registration process.

  1. Using a device already registered and connected to the WMUNet wired network, navigate to our wired registration page (this link is only accessible when connected to the WMUNet wired network).
  2. Review the Acceptable Use Policy and click Agree
  3. Click Register your game console or streaming device
  4. Provide your Bronco NetID, password, MAC Address (from the previous step), and device type.
  5. Click Register.
  6. Wait 5 minutes and reboot your device. Your device is now registered
