AHEC hosts 8th CHHS Immersion Day
This is the third year the Van Buren Career Technical Center has attended a CHHS Immersion Day at the College of Health and Human Services at Western Michigan University. Forty students and five instructors participated in the four-hour event.
Hereditary Cancer Today conference
The Western Regional Area Health Education Center coordinated a conference focused on hereditary cancer on May 9, 2018 in Grand Rapids. Experts in the fields of oncology, genetics and breast and colorectal surgery provided current data and best practices for hereditary cancer screening, testing, treatment and surveillance.
The WMU Master of Public Health (MPH) program, based in Grand Rapids, is making strides with regional and national recognition for both faculty and students.
Annual Trauma Informed Care conference
In May, WR AHEC hosted the annual Trauma Informed Care conference - The Role of Trauma in Substance Use Disorders - hosting over 100 healthcare providers from multiple disciplines at five locations across the state. The continuing education conference focused on the effects of traumatic events and the development of an addictive disorder.
