General summary

Manages the accounting and physical inventory processes for fixed assets and handles financial functions related to construction and major repair projects.

Major duties

  • Oversees funding, expenditure tracking and capitalization of major construction projects.
  • Monitors and projects fixed assets through monthly reconciliation of the asset management system to the general ledger and performing physical inventories of University owned equipment.
  • Assists with monthly and year-end general ledger close processes. Ensures compliance with governmental accounting standards.
  • Prepares and submits financial reports as required for audits and legal compliance purposes.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial data for the fixed asset, construction in process, reserve and debt service funds.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Professional accounting or financial experience related to fixed assets and construction projects.
  • Spreadsheet proficiency.
  • Accounting systems experience

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work: with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting/moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors and/or any number of elements.
