General summary

Manages the University’s closed circuit cable television broadcast system. Designs, installs and supports digital media systems.

Major duties

  • Manages daily operations of the University’s closed circuit cable television broadcasting system, including contracting for programming, programming acquisitions, creating daily program schedules and creation of graphics and promos.
  • Designs, installs and supports digital media systems, including studio facilities and computer based editing suites.
  • Negotiates with content providers to acquire programming.
  • Monitors vendor performance and resolves content problems or transmission issues.
  • Evaluates feedback from end-users and adjusts programming to meet goals and standards.
  • Installs, tests and maintains media and broadcasting equipment.
  • Hires, trains and evaluates performance of part-time staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of radio frequency, fiber optics and internet protocols, various operating systems, video servers and switching devices.
  • Working knowledge of digital media file types and standards as they relate to multimedia production.
  • Familiarity with broadcast regulations.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
