General summary

Supervises the art shop and maintains the studio art printmaking, metalsmithing, photography, painting and art foundations facilities.

Major duties

  • Provides technical support for faculty and students. Supervises and provides instructional and research activities to supplement classroom instruction and research projects.
  • Trains faculty, students and volunteers on safe practices with heavy machinery and environmental conditions in the wood shop. Ensures safety procedures and regulations are met.
  • Repairs and replaces equipment as needed. Ensures scheduled servicing of machinery and outside work for major repairs as needed.
  • Oversees maintenance and repairs in the printmaking, metalsmithing, photography, painting and art foundations facilities.
  • Manages woodshop budget.
  • Serves as a building coordinator.
  • Supervises student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years’ relevant experience.

Physical requirements

Moderate work occasionally working in difficult position or with physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials from 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
