General summary

Prepares applicant files for admissions decisions. Ensures data quality and integrity are upheld in compliance with University procedures.

Major duties

  • Determines admissibility of student applicants to the University by assessing application files.
  • Makes independent decisions about transcript information and acceptability of transfer credits. Contacts the issuing institution when necessary. Confirms the admission decision through review and assessment of final transcripts.
  • Manages the application process for undergraduate and graduate applications. Ensures that each application is correctly reviewed, a decision determined, or appropriately routed to the next level for decision.
  • Supports the mission of the University by providing timely response for a large number of applicants annually to enhance admission to enrollment yield.
  • Ensures conformity with University requirements for all applications to maintain institutional academic integrity.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers regarding admissions policies, procedures, and decisions. Defends admissions decisions or indicates necessary corrective requirements.
  • Tracks student records on the University’s database system. Uses information for reporting and enrollment projections.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Office experience with data entry and databases.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
