Presidential Scholar in Business Information Systems
Jessica Harsono is from Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia and is a graduate of Intan Permata Hati Secondary School. She majored in business analytics, with a minor in general business, and graduated in December 2020. Jessica’s goal is to secure a position as a business or data analyst in a company in the U.S. where she can use her programming skills to help the organization understand customer behavior better. After one to three years of work experience, she will consider pursuing a master’s degree in business analytics. She hopes to be able to expand her skill set at her job and with higher education so that she can eventually build and run her own companies—ones that will have a positive impact around the world. Jessica received the Diether H. Haenicke Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship awarded to international students upon first-time admission to WMU. She has been on the dean’s list every semester and received the Dr. Bernadine P. Branchaw Scholarship during her time at WMU Haworth. She was a member of the Indonesian Students Association. She also was part of the second-place team in the project management competition hosted by the Project Management Institute in 2020; served as a tutor for computer information systems courses at WMU; and led a fashion show and dance performance for the International Festival in 2019.
