Western Michigan University's email service provider recently announced plans to discontinue offering email as a service in June 2017. The University's current contract ends June 2016.
The Office of Information Technology has begun an evaluation of alternative email solutions. Four teams are focusing on key components including user functionality, security and privacy, technology and accessibility. These teams are comprised of over 25 participants, including students, faculty and staff, from various academic and administrative units. Each team is identifying the pros and cons of each alternative email solution and will deliver a report of their findings to University leadership as input into the decision making process.
All WMU students, faculty and staff are encouraged to take a survey to provide feedback on the current email system, Webmail Plus, to help determine the needs for future email services. The survey takes five to ten minutes to complete and is available through Tuesday, May 26.
