Network Services

The Office of Information Technology provides video, wired and wireless connections to the campus as well as to the residence halls and apartments.

Ethernet (data) connections

Information technology provides wired connections for both data and voice (phone/VoIP).

Network registration

A network registration process is provided that requires all computers connecting to WMUnet to be registered using a valid Bronco NetID and password.

There is no charge for this service.

ResNet connections

All residential rooms are connected to ResNet, the residential computing network at WMU.

See also ResNet. The charge is $80 per semester for fall and spring and $40 each for summer I and summer II. This charge is billed to each student's WMU account.

Virtual private network

 A virtual private network (VPN) is provided to allow encrypted connections to WMU's network.

There is no charge for this service.


Information technology has installed wireless connections all over inside and outside at WMU, including individual residence hall and Western View apartment rooms.

Generally there are no charges for this service. Special requests however, may be billable.
