The Kalamazoo Promise Scholars Program Campus Coaches and Peer Mentors are available to answer questions about the Kalamazoo Promise Scholarship at Western Michigan University, provide insight on navigating the University, provide academic and personal support and connect you valuable resources.

A new Microsoft Teams channel has been created for you to connect with mentors and Promise coaches. The name of the channel is KPSP Student Portal. Follow the steps below to log in and find the KPSP Student Portal in Teams.

Accessing the Portal for the first time

Using your computer

  1. Log in to Microsoft Teams using your web browser (Google Chrome recommended) by going to https://wexchange.wmich.edu and log in – use your BroncoNetID@wmich.edu and password. (It's important to include "@wmich.edu" after your Bronco NetID at this login.)
  2. Click on the Teams app logo and Teams will open in a new browser tab.
  3. If you see the "Stay better connected..." message in your browser, click Use the web app instead. Alternatively, you can download the Teams desktop application.
  4. Join the portal for the first time by clicking the First Time Users button below. Enter the following team code to join the Portal: 3x5oref.

Using your mobile device

  1. Download the Teams app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Log in using your BroncoNetID@wmich.edu and password. (It's important to include "@wmich.edu" after your Bronco NetID at this login.)
  3. Be sure to allow the app to access your camera and microphone.
  4. Join the portal for the first time by clicking the First Time Users from your phone below. Enter the following team code to join the Portal: 3x5oref.

Using the Portal

When you first access the portal, you will automatically be in the General channel. In the left-side menu. WMU Promise Staff is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. to answer questions, meet virtually, and support you in reaching your academic and personal goals.

Drop-Ins:

  1. In the KSPS General Channel, just let us know that you have a question by scrolling all the to the bottom of the page to where it says “Start a new conversation…” and begin typing your question. This is visible to anyone in the channel, so be sure not to include personal or confidential information here.
  2. WMU Promise Staff will be monitoring this section and will respond to each student.
  3. General questions may be answered in the channel. For more complex and student-specific questions, WMU Promise Staff will open a video chat.
  4. During the video chat, you can hover over the icons in the middle of the page to unmute your microphone and turn on your camera. Use of headphones, earbuds or a headset is recommended.

If you already have an appointment scheduled:

  1. In the General Channel, check-in for your meeting by scrolling all the to the bottom of the page to where it says “Start a new conversation…” and indicate your meeting time and who your meeting is with. This is visible to anyone in the channel, so be sure not to include personal or confidential information here.
  2. Your Mentor or Promise Coach will respond and let you know when they are ready to meet.
  3. During the video chat, you can hover over the icons in the middle of the page to unmute your microphone and turn on your camera. Use of headphones, earbuds or a headset is recommended.
