Authority Control and Database Maintenance: We ensure the quality of the data in the Libraries' online catalog and digital content management systems by performing authority control and maintaining library holdings information.

  • Create and maintain correct name, series, and subject headings
  • Build appropriate user reference structures
  • Disambiguate names
  • Facilitate the collocation of works by the same author, in the same series, or about the same subject
  • Perform systematic database clean-up and updating of records.

Consultation: We share our expertise in metadata and the organization of information with faculty, organizations, and groups

  • Assist in developing systems to describe and provide access to their collections
  • Apply metadata schemas and standards
  • Choose appropriate library and content management systems
  • Share our expertise with vendors, assisting them in the creation of quality MARC records
