Gymnastics team announces 2018 schedule

The Broncos begin the season at home hosting University of Illinois-Chicago at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14. Other home meets are on Jan. 14, Jan. 28, Feb. 11, March 10 and March 13.

Emeriti Council reports leadership for 2017-18

New officers have been announced for the Emeriti Council, which represents all retired WMU faculty members. Drs. Peter Krawutschke and James Bosco have been named chair and vice chair, respectively.

Evening concert features music inspired by whale songs

WMU faculty, students and guest cellist Alexa Muhly will perform music inspired by whale songs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. A 7 p.m. discussion will precede the performance.

June Mochizuki obituary

June Mochizuki, WMU associate professor emerita of counseling, died Oct. 29 at age 92. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, in Denver.

Fake news discussion to feature international, local panelists

Falsehoods and bigotry in the news will be discussed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. A March for Racial Equity will precede the discussion from 2 to 4 p.m. Both events are open to the public and part of a daylong event to open the Great Lakes PeaceJam's new program year.

Longtime WMU board secretary Betty Kocher dies at 84

Kocher, who served as secretary to WMU's Board of Trustees for 35 years, died Nov. 2 in Kalamazoo. A celebration of her life and a reception are planned for 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Ringers needed for WMU Day at the Kettles

University community members are asked to show their volunteer and school spirit by donning WMU gear and participating in the Salvation Army's annual Red Kettle campaign Dec. 2.

Campus events scheduled for Veterans Week

Proceeds from the sale of $10 "unit" T-shirts support military scholarships, as well as Silver Star Apartments in Battle Creek, which provides low- to no-cost housing for homeless veterans.

Theatre to present 'The Game's Afoot'

"The Game's Afoot" will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, and run through Sunday, Nov. 19, in Shaw Theatre at WMU's Gilmore Theatre Complex on Main Campus.
