For Faculty and Emeriti

The WMU Internationalization Initiative was prepared by the International Education Council of the Faculty Senate and the Haenicke Institute for Global Education.

Western Michigan University is committed to providing its faculty and emeriti the opportunity to be globally engaged.

Research, Teach, or Consult Abroad

WMU enjoys formal partnerships with more than 100 international institutions, offering options to faculty who are interested in collaboration and exchange. Funding is available for faculty activities abroad through the Timothy Light Center, as well as the Fulbright US Scholar and Specialist Programs.

Create a Global Classroom

Collaborate with faculty abroad to provide opportunities for your students to work across borders with other students around the globe. Students work cooperatively and collaboratively across time, distance, and cultures on projects that are implemented in your classroom curriculum. Funding available for WMU faculty.

Celebrate Global Engagement

The WMU Global Engagement Award seeks nominations each year for faculty and staff. The contributions can be in the realm of teaching, research and creative activities, service, and other international activities.
