Strategic Planning

The Division of Enrollment Management led the development of the WMU Enrollment Plan 2015-2020 (BroncoNet id and password required).  This Enrollment Plan was data-informed and contains 28 objectives in 4 main areas:  recruitment marketing, recruitment, retention/degree completion, and affordability for accessibility.




WMU will be the premier choice among students by offering an affordable and accessible portfolio of nationally and internationally recognized academic programs in a welcoming and inclusive environment. As such, WMU strives to attract, recruit, enroll, retain and graduate a diverse community of learners.

The Enrollment Plan supports the WMU Academic Affairs Strategic Plan and WMU's Strategic Plan. Each academic college's strategic plan addresses actions to improve recruitment and retention. 

First and foremost, enrollment is everyone's responsibility on campus. Each faculty and staff member can and should play a role in the recruitment, retention, and success of our students.

This Enrollment Plans seeks to:

  • Support the University overall mission by attracting the learners we want to serve
  • Plan for our future
  • Shape our enrollment composition
  • Prioritize our human and financial resources

While this Enrollment Plan is comprehensive, it is complemented by other plans at WMU: Student Affairs Strategic Plan, International Enrollment Plan, Extended University Programs Strategic Plan, Business and Finance Strategic Plan, Marketing Plan, Diversity/Multicultural Action Plan (DMAP), all of the academic colleges' strategic plans, and other strategic plans on campus.
