Bio:

I came to WMU as a part-time instructor, then advanced to an annual contract, and then earned a tenure track faculty member position. I have years of experience working with adults and older adults in inpatient mental health, home care, and skilled nursing settings. I have worked as a rehabilitation director and as a program director for an occupational therapy assistant program. I enjoy program development and the privilege to lead and manage. I am a certified dementia practitioner, and I am passionate about older adults. My research agenda follows my experience and passion in solving clinical problems regarding safety culture and improved outcomes through behavior change and communication. I have published on safe patient handling using a hybrid approach, improving hospital safety culture, and virtual therapy visits. I volunteer and teach life skills to citizens returning to the community after incarceration and those in the community who are marginalized in society.

Fun fact: I am a devout husband and father of two daughters and two granddaughters. My wife and I are avid glampers (glamor campers, if you are unfamiliar with the term) and love to travel with our two dogs and get outdoors. We enjoy kayaking, hiking, biking, and visiting our family.`
