Dr. Bojie Fu Receives Honorary Degree
Dr. Bojie Fu, Dean of Faculty of Geographical Science, Beijing Normal University is well known internationally in the fields of Ecosystem Services and Management, and Ecological Restoration. He has published more than 500 papers and 10 books on ecosystem services, landscape ecology, land use, eco-hydrology, including articles in Science, Nature Geoscience, and Nature Climate Change. He has transformed science into real-world practice and ecological restoration policies in China. Dr. Fu has held leadership roles in many Chinese and international professional organizations and has passionately promoted and led China-US collaborations in landscape ecology, ecosystem services and sustainability. He also maintains a close relationship with Western Michigan University, collaborating with several faculty in projects yielding 10 articles, a book, and 12 workshops at national and international conferences.
In addition, Dr. Fu has provided more than 10 Policy Recommendations to China’s Central Government, such as “Policy Suggestions for Strengthening Ecosystem Monitoring and Management in China”.
Professor Fu’s scholarship, mentorship, global engagement, and public services truly exemplify the missions of our “learner-centered, discovery-driven, and globally engaged” university and serve as role models for our students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
