The Search Advisory Committee’s charge is as follows:
- To invite representative leaders of broad institutional constituencies of Western Michigan University to formally join and participate in the search advisory committee.
- To engage in facilitated analysis of the future needs and opportunities of Western Michigan University as defined by the current institutional strategic plan.
- To establish a timeline for the search process.
- To select a search firm through a RFP process that includes due diligence and appropriate benchmarks of accomplishing similar scope and size searches.
- Establish a comprehensive position posting based upon the committee’s analysis of institutional needs.
- Promote the posting through the selected search firm to recruit a diverse pool of candidates that are in symmetry with the institutional needs as defined by the committee.
- Screen and advance the candidate pool.
- Select the final candidates from the screening process.
- Interview the final candidates.
- Conduct the appropriate due diligence on all final candidates.
- Conduct appropriate reference and background checks.
- Provide feedback and perspective on the finalists for the President's final hiring decision.
