PATHWAY PARTNERS
University Endorsed
"[WMU Signature, which] launched this fall will provide even more opportunities for our students to find and pursue their passions outside of the classroom. Many of these pathways will afford additional opportunities to engage in our local community. One hundred and fourteen years ago, the partnership that underlies CommUniverCity was started, under my tenure it will keep on rocking."
-President Montgomery, Inaugural Address: September 15, 2017
History
WMU Signature was the result of in-depth conversation by a Think Tank including faculty, staff and students, which took place during the 2014-2015 academic year. Their charge from the Higher Learning Commission was to determine a quality initiative that would have a significant impact on the institution and provide the potential for institutional and educational quality improvement. The decision to develop a unique take on the comprehensive student record led to the creation of a Steering Committee, also comprised of faculty, staff and students, who, during the 2015-2016 academic year, provided the groundwork in creating foundational materials including WMU Signature's vision, mission and outcomes. With the direction and guidance of this framework, the pilot program began in Fall 2016.
