Amira is a first year Ph.D. student. She is currently a research assistant at the Literacy Studies/TESOL unit. She earned her BA in English language and translation from Alexandria University in Egypt. She earned her M.A. in TESOL from WMU in 2020. She has been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), Foreign Language (EFL) for ten years. She also taught Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL) as a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) in WMU. Her research interests include culturally responsive teaching, learner identity and teaching refugees and immigrants.
