ISM course sequence

This is the suggested course sequence for students majoring in integrated supply management at Western Michigan University. Students may use this list as a guideline when scheduling courses. There are additional course requirements, so students should meet with the ISM advisor every semester to stay on track toward graduation.

  • MGMT 2800 Intro to Supply Management [Prerequisite: sophomore standing]

First semester in the program:

  • MGMT 3200 Managing ERP Systems OR MGMT 3810 Applied Six Sigma Problem-Solving [Prereq: MGMT 2800]
  • EDMM 3280 Quality Assurance and Control [Prereq: STAT 2160]
  • EDMM 1420 Engineering Graphics OR EDMM 1500 Intro to Manufacturing AND EDMM 1501 Processes and Materials in Manufacturing

Second semester in the program:

  • MGMT 3200 Managing ERP Systems OR MGMT 3810 Applied Six Sigma Problem-Solving [Prereq: MGMT 2800]
  • MKTG 3720 Sourcing and Purchasing [Prereq: MKTG 2500]
  • EDMM 1420 Engineering Graphics OR EDMM 1500 Intro to Manufacturing AND EDMM 1501 Processes and Materials in Manufacturing

Third semester in the program:

  • MGMT 4640 Production Management and Control [Prereq: ACTY 2110, MGMT 2800]
  • MKTG 4630 Supply Chain Logistics [Prereq: MKTG 2500, MGMT 2800]
  • LAW 4840 International Business Law [Prereq: LAW 3800] OR LAW 4860 Marketing and Sales Law [Prereq: LAW 3800]
  • Elective* (Those in bold are recommended.): ACTY 3100, ACTY 3220, BCM 4540, BUS 3960, CIS 2640, CIS 3640, CIS 4640, EDMM 3050, FIN 3100, FIN 4420, GEOG 2440, IEE 5200, MGMT 2140, MKTG 2750, foreign language (1000, 1010, 2000, 2010)

Fourth semester in the program:

  • GEOG 3010 Fundamentals of Geographic Info Systems, EDMM 4870 Manufacturing Productivity Techniques OR EM 5120 Management of Service Operations [Prereq: senior standing]
  • EDMM 4880/MKTG 4880 Applied Process Reengineering [Prereq: senior standing, instructor approval]
