KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University alumni across the region and their families and friends are being invited to Southwest Fest '97 at WMU's Waldo Stadium Saturday, Sept. 20, for a football game between the Broncos and the University of Toledo Rockets.
The game begins at 6:30 p.m. Before the game, the WMU Alumni Association is sponsoring a tent party next to the stadium on Hyames Field. The menu includes a barbecue chicken dinner with tossed salad, baked beans, rolls, brownies and beverages. The game is $6 and dinner is $8.
Playing host at the association's tent party will be members of four Southwest Michigan alumni association chapters. They are Calhoun County, Greater Grand Rapids, Greater Kalamazoo and Southwest Michigan in Benton Harbor-St. Joseph. The tent party will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Including the game, the total cost is $14 per person.
"This is a great opportunity for alumni and friends from throughout Southwest Michigan to get together and enjoy an evening of fellowship, food and football," said Carol J. Conklin, assistant director of alumni relations at WMU. "We're asking people to make reservations by Aug. 22 by calling us at 616 387-8777."
