Rep. Schauer to address issues facing Calhoun County Feb. 24

KALAMAZOO -- Some of the issues currently facing Calhoun County will be addressed when State Rep. Mark Schauer serves as guest speaker for a "Good Morning, Battle Creek" breakfast program Tuesday, Feb. 24.

The free event will take place at 7 a.m. in the student lounge of Western Michigan University's Kendall Center, 50 W. Jackson St., Battle Creek. It is being sponsored by the Calhoun County chapter of the WMU Alumni Association and will include a complimentary breakfast.

Schauer, who received a master of public administration degree from WMU in 1986, will speak at 7:20 a.m. He will address issues that are part of his legislative agenda as well as talk about his first term in state office and answer audience questions. In addition, Schauer will comment on the growing and mutually beneficial relationship between Battle Creek and WMU, which has been enhanced recently with the relocation of the University's School of Aviation Sciences to new facilities at the W.K. Kellogg Airport.

Also attending the breakfast will be Keith A. Pretty, WMU vice president for external affairs and general counsel, and University staff members from alumni relations and other offices.
