Political control and bureaucracy explored in colloquium

KALAMAZOO -- The impact of political control on bureaucracy will be examined by a visiting political scientist during a research colloquium Friday, Nov. 13, at Western Michigan University.

Dr. B. Dan Wood, professor of political science at the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A & M University, will address "The Dynamics of Political Control of the Bureaucracy" at 1 p.m. in Room 3301 of Friedmann Hall. Wood, an expert in the area of bureaucracy, is the co-author of "Bureaucratic Dynamics: The Role of Bureaucracy in a Democracy." He has been awarded a National Science Foundation grant for his research and serves on the editorial boards of a number of political science journals including Political Research Quarterly and Political Analysis.

His lecture is sponsored by WMU's Institute of Government and Politics and is free and open to the public. For more information, call the institute at 616 387-5696.
