KALAMAZOO--The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees Friday, April 23, approved the purchase of five lots along the west edge of the main campus on Howard Street.
The property, at 855 S. Howard St., will be purchased for $325,000, an amount based on a recent appraisal, said Robert M. Beam, vice president for business and finance. A business located on the property, the Galley Submarine Shop, could be sold separately.
The purchase is consistent with the University's long-term plan to acquire property located in this area as it becomes available. Funding comes from the University's parking system and the property is expected to be used for parking.
