Haworth College of Business scholarship recipients announced

Aug. 9, 1999

KALAMAZOO- Fifty-two students (listed below by home town) were recently awarded scholarships by the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University. The scholarships have been awarded for the 1999-2000 academic year and range from $50 to $5,000. The students were recognized for their academic excellence and extracurricular participation in the college's activities.

Malaysia

JOHAR -- Lee Ping Lai, Jin Ara 15, Desa Lemerlang, received a $50 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in integrated supply management, she is the daughter of Tiam Chaw Tai and Ann Lai.

SEREMBAN -- Priscilla Ly Lee, No. 4 Jalan Temiang, received a $50 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A senior majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Ho Sit Moy and Lee Kooi Seng.

IRVINE -- Amy L. Vuong, 97 Briarwood, received a $250 General Motors Equal
Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A freshman studying business administration, she is the daughter of Tami and Phong Vuong.

Illinois

DARIEN -- Matthew W. Huels, 805 Albany Lane, received a $50 Haworth College
of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in accountancy and computer information systems, he is the son of Marion and William Huels.

EVANSTON -- Stacy B. Gardner , 1722 Madison St., received a $5,000 Kalamazoo
Gazette
Business Award, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A sophomore majoring in general business, she is the daughter of Marion Coley.

Michigan

ATHENS -- Angela J. Young, 2017 V Drive South, received the $225 Alfred E.
Pugno Scholarship, named for Pugno, a Fremont businessman and the first president of the WMU Alumni Association. A senior majoring in advertising, Young is the daughter of Suzanne and Monty Skinner of Leonidas.

BANGOR -- Sarah M. Stocchiero, 54341 M-43, received a $500 Art and Peg
Sanders Scholarship, named for Dr. Margaret M. Sanders, professor emerita of business information systems, and her late husband, Arthur. It is awarded based on grade point average. A senior majoring in integrated supply management and Asian studies, Stocchiero is the daughter of Mary and Theodore Stocchiero.

BATTLE CREEK -- Shanna L. Cook, 1100 Hamilton Road, received the $50 Haworth
College of Business Achievement Award, supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A senior majoring in finance and Spanish, Cook is the daughter of Cathrine and Rodger Cook.

John R. Duyck, 291 Parkshore Drive, received the $500 Arnold and Roseanne Schneider Scholarship, named for Schneider, the founding dean of WMU's Haworth College of Business, and his late first wife. It is awarded for academic performance. A graduate student in the master's of business administration program with a concentration in finance, Duyck is the son of Patricia and Robert Duyck of Essexville.

BAY CITY -- Stacy L. Sagady, 3263 Frankenlust Road, received the $300 Bernadine
Branchaw Award, named for a former WMU professor of business information systems and awarded for academic achievement. A junior majoring in marketing, Sagady is the daughter of Kathy and Fred Sagady.

BUCHANAN -- Casey C. Dick, 4824 Erie Drive, received a $500 Art and Peg Sanders
Scholarship, named for Dr. Margaret M. Sanders, professor emerita of business information systems, and her late husband, Arthur. It is awarded based on grade point average. A junior majoring in accountancy, Dick is the son of Bobbetta and John Dick.

CANTON -- Puja Parakh, 43759 Cranford Ave., received a $200 General
Motors Equal Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A sophomore majoring in management, she is the daughter of Ranjana and Vijay Parakh.

Sara K. Schoeneman, 42672 Hanford, received a $100 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in finance, she is the daughter of Mary Jane and Dick Schoeneman.

CENTREVILLE -- Martin A. Murk, 598 Anthony Drive, received a $100 Haworth Collegeof Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in food marketing, he is the son of Trudy and Allan Murk.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP -- James A. Halaris, 41294 Julie St., received a $50 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in integrated supply management, he is the son of Jane and Anthony Halaris.

COMSTOCK -- Diana Gendhar, P.O. Box 473, received a $225 Alfred E. Pugno
Scholarship, named for Pugno, a Fremont businessman and the first president of the WMU Alumni Association. Gendhar, a senior majoring in computer information systems, is the daughter of Ruby and Irwin Gendhar.

DETROIT -- Naomi Grant, 1259 Edison, received a $250 General Motors Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A junior majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Anniedoll and Frank Grant of Detroit.

Carlo D. Hogan, 17617 Sunderland, received a $1,500 Comerica Bank Scholarship, awarded for academic achievement. A junior majoring in integrated supply management, he is the son of Donna Hogan.

Mijanou N. Minto, 16627 Stout, received a $200 General Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A senior majoring in food marketing, she is the daughter of Rebecca Monroe and Lloyd Minto.

Shani J. Penn, 4340 Sturtevant, received a $200 General Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A senior majoring in marketing, she is the daughter of Sylvia and Todd Penn.

Walter E. Regalado-Ventura, 3114 Pennsylvania, received a $300 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty, and alumni. A junior majoring in accountancy, he is the son of Maria and Bennie FoRoad

Christal L. Williams, 15906 Collingham, received a $250 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in marketing, she is the daughter of Cheryl Watson and Silas Williams.

EAST CHINA -- Ryan B. VanTiem, 6180 Urban Drive, received a $50 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in integrated supply management, he is the son of Deborah and Dennis VanTiem.

EATON RAPIDS -- Katie L. VanderMolen, 6195 Long Highway, received a $450 Alfred
E. Pugno Scholarship, named for Pugno, a Fremont businessman and the first president of the WMU Alumni Association. A freshman studying business administration, she is the daughter of Cathy and Glenn VanderMolen.

ESSEXVILLE -- Dana R. Kryszak, 1179 West Nebobish Road, received a $150
Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Alice and Jerry Kryszak.

FRANKENMUTH -- Jennifer L. Dale, 380 Harvest Lane, received a $50 Haworth College
of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A senior majoring in marketing and piano performance, she is the daughter of Judy Dale.

GAINES -- Jamie E. Olivo, 10482 Nichols Road, received a $400 General Motors
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A sophomore majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Debra and Jesse Olivo.

GRAND BLANC -- Jeffrey D. Roche, 607 Boutell Drive, received a $50 Haworth College
of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in accountancy, he is the son of Carol and David Roche.

GRAWN -- Jessica M. Skowronski, 5491 Sunnyside St., received a $100 Haworth
College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in advertising and organizational communication, she is the daughter of Mary Skowronski.

KALAMAZOO -- Charmelle A. Abdullah, 4609 Woodland Hills, received a $1,000
Chubb Group of Insurance Companies Scholarship, awarded for academic performance. A junior majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Darlene and Daniel-Muslim Abdullah.

Nailah M. Abdullah, 748 Hawley St., received a $1,000 General Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A junior majoring in accountancy she is the daughter of Darlene and Daniel-Muslim Abdullah.

Derek J. Peacock, 6924 Country View Drive, received a $100 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in finance, he is the son of Barbara Peacock of Kalamazoo, and Daniel Peacock of Portage.

Erin L. Pinkster, 1829 Barney Road, received a $150 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Brenda and Harold Pinkster.

Kathlene M. Scheffers, 5055 Queen Victoria Lane, received a $250 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. She is a junior majoring in human resource management.

KENTWOOD -- Jenifer M. Kaiser, 5533 Springwood Court SE., received a $250 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A senior majoring in marketing, she is the daughter of Donna and Marvin Kaiser.

LAWRENCE-- Carrie A. Martin, 316 St. Joseph St., received a $100 Haworth College
of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in industrial marketing, she is the daughter of Judith and Gerald Martin.

MIDLAND-- Kimberly N. Heffel, 5411 Wallbridge, received a $375 Haworth
College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A senior majoring in marketing and Spanish, she is the daughter of Nancy and James Heffel.

OTSEGO-- Kristine L. Spitzner, 1886 Ames Ave., received a $150 Haworth
College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Patricia and Larry Spitzner.

PORTAGE-- Jeremy M. Roberts, 3012 Fleetwood Drive, received a $500 General
Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A senior majoring in computer information systems, he is the son of Susan and Jerome Roberts.

Andrea R. Stuut, 1627 Whitby Ave., received a $500 Arnold and Roseanne Schneider Scholarship, named for Arnold Schneider, the founding dean of WMU's College of Business and awarded to the top graduating bachelor's of business administration student. Pursuing an BBA with a concentration in accountancy, she is the daughter of Alice and Raymond Stuut.

ST. JOHNS-- Allison L. Sternburgh, 603 Lambert Drive, received a $750 Old Kent
Bank Southwest Scholarship, awarded to outstanding students in WMU's Haworth College of Business. A junior majoring in finance, she is the daughter of Sandra and Joe Sternburgh.

SANFORD-- Amy A. Wood, 2912 Wilson Drive, received a $300 Bernadine
Branchaw Scholarship, named for a former WMU professor of business information systems and awarded for academic achievement. A junior majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Michele and Michael Wood.

SAULT STE. MARIE-- Mindy S. Poliski, 1471 West 3 Mile Road, received a $750 Old Kent
Bank Southwest Scholarship, awarded to outstanding students in the Haworth College of Business. A junior majoring in accountancy, she is the daughter of Karen and Donald Corbiere.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP-- Amy E. Peardon, 47601 Province Court, received a $400 General
Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded for academic performance or financial need. A senior majoring in food marketing and Spanish, she is the daughter of Janice and John Peardon.

SOUTH LYON-- Michael R. Scheloske, 61843 Rambling Way, received a $50
Haworth College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in finance, he is the son of Mary and Robert Scheloske.

SPRING LAKE-- Sara B. Slager, 15250 Oak Point Drive, received a $100 Haworth
College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A freshman studying business administration, she is the daughter of Janice and Gary Slager.

STERLING HEIGHTS--Maria E. Grzanka, 14666 Elrond Drive, received a $500 General
Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship, awarded based on academic performance or financial need. A senior majoring in integrated supply management, she is the daughter of Sofia and Robet Grzanka.

STEVENSVILLE-- Dustin L. White, 2110 W.,Marquette Woods Road, received a $150
Phi Chi Theta Award, for academic performance. A junior majoring in accountancy, he is the son of Patricia Teffs of Bangor.

WARREN-- Angela M. Giordano, 27034 Clarpointe, received a $50 Haworth
College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A sophomore majoring in finance, she is the daughter of Linda and Antonino Giordano.

Candice S. Kelley-Hall, 7664 Rivard #1, received a $250 General Motors Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Scholarship awarded for academic performance or financial need. A freshman studying pre-business, she is the daughter of Shawn Hall.

WAYLAND-- Genevieve L. Brady, 12856 Meadows Drive, received a $250 Haworth
College of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A senior majoring in human resource management, she is the daughter of Sarah Thompson and Michael Brady, both of Chesaning.

YPSILANTI -- Amy E. Oltman, 5665 Caren Drive, received a $300 Haworth College
of Business Achievement Award, a scholarship supported by donations from WMU staff, faculty and alumni. A junior majoring in finance, she is the daughter of Cathy and Craig Oltman.
