Aspiring teacher and future consultant crowned WMU royal couple

KALAMAZOO -- Aspiring elementary school teacher Zsanara "Nara" Jones and Harlin Thomas II, a future consultant in the supply chain management field, emerged as Western Michigan University's last Homecoming Queen and King of the century.

Jones of Grand Rapids and Thomas of Detroit were crowned by WMU President Elson Floyd during halftime of the Bronco vs. Ball State Homecoming football game this fall. The royal couple was selected after undergoing various stages of interviews with members of the Homecoming Selection Committee, university officials and WMU alumni.

Jones, who graduated from Creston High School in 1996, is a senior majoring in elementary education. She is the daughter of Phillip and Ruth Jones of 1337 Plymouth SE. A Medallion Scholarship winner, Jones was sponsored by Draper/Siedschlag residence halls.

Thomas is a junior majoring in supply chain management. His hometown address is 3810 Yorkshire. Thomas was sponsored by Hoekje Hall, where he is a resident assistant/administrative coordinator.
