KALAMAZOO -- An interior design student who recently graduated from Western Michigan University has placed third in a statewide competition.

Sarah Teer of Grand Blanc, Mich., who graduated in April, placed third in the annual Michigan Design Center/American Society of Interior Designers Senior Competition. The competition, open to senior level interior design students who are also ASID student members, involves the independent completion of a design scenario based on the National Council for Interior Design Qualification examination.

Other top awards went to students from Lawrence Technological University and Michigan State University. Teer recently began work as an interior designer with IDS Interior Design Services, which is based in the Detroit area.
