Golf team finishes sixth at MAC Championships

KALAMAZOO -- WMU's golf team shot its lowest round of the Mid-American Conference Championship on the third and final day of the tournament to finish sixth out of seven teams. The tournament was played April 28-30 at the Walden Ponds Golf Club (par 72, 5,812 yards) in Hamilton, Ohio.

The Broncos recorded a team total of 331 on Sunday (April 30) to finish with a 1,000 total over 54 holes, setting a school record for three rounds in the process.

Freshman Erica Bieniek (Scottville, Mich.) shot a 242 to place 13th overall, earning team medalist honors for the sixth time this season. Fort Wayne, Ind., natives Katie Yoder and Nicole Chamberlin carded 256s to tie for 30th place.

The MAC Championships conclude WMU's second varsity season. Coach Cindy Trout returns all nine members next year, welcoming back six freshmen and three sophomores.
