Women's tennis team meets South Carolina in NCAA tourney

KALAMAZOO -- The WMU women's tennis team learned Thursday (May 4) who and where it will play in the first round of the 2000 NCAA Tournament.

One year after playing at UCLA in the NCAA Tournament, Western Michigan University will stay a little closer to home by taking on the University of South Carolina May 13 in South Bend, Ind.

The Broncos, seeded No. 3 in the region, take on the No. 2 seeded Gamecocks at 10 a.m. Notre Dame, the top seed, hosts No. 4 Illinois-Chicago at 3 p.m. May 13. The winners of the two matches play on Sunday (May 14) at noon.

Western Michigan captured its second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 victory over Marshall in the title match of the 2000 Mid-American Conference Tournament April 30 at WMU's Sorensen Courts.
