Sabbatical, professional development leaves approved

KALAMAZOO -- Sabbatical and professional development leaves for 10 Western Michigan University faculty and staff were approved by the University's Board of Trustees at its June 23 meeting.

Sabbatical leaves for the 2000-01 academic year were approved for Dr. Gunther M. Hega, assistant professor of political science; Dr. Joyce M. Kubiski, associate professor of art; Dr. Irma M. Lopez, associate professor of foreign languages and literatures; Dr. Ann Miles, associate professor of anthropology; and Dr. Frank Rapley, professor of teaching, learning and leadership.

Professional development leaves and their effective dates were approved for Dr. Dina Bangdel, assistant professor of art, effective Aug. 7, 2000, through June 30, 2001; Dr. David L. Code, associate professor of music, effective Jan. 2, 2000, through April 21, 2001; Dr. Timothy Light, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective July 1, 2000, through June 30, 2001; Dr. William C. Olsen, professor of English, effective Aug. 7, 2000, through Dec. 8, 2000; and Andrew A. Rivers, executive assistant to the President, effective Aug. 10, 2000, through Aug. 9, 2001.
