
Hockey Broncos extend win streak

NIAGARA, N.Y. -- WMU's hockey Broncos won their sixth consecutive
match, 4-1, at Niagara on Friday night (Nov 10), giving the team
its longest winning streak since November 1995 and best season
start in program history.
With the non-conference win at Niagara, the Broncos improved
to 7-1-1 on the season. They remain 3-0-1 in the Central Collegiate
Hockey Association. WMU was ranked No. 13 in the nation entering
this weekend's action, the first time the Broncos have been top-15
ranked since 1995-96.
Freshman Jeff Campbell scored first for WMU off assists by
Mike Bishai and David Gove to give Western Michigan a 1-0 lead
after one period. Senior Steve Rymsha got his first of two goals
in the second period to put WMU up 2-0. Niagara responded to
trim the lead to 2-1, but Bronco Dana Lattery responded with
a goal to make it 3-1 at the second intermission.
Rymsha scored his second goal in the final period on assists
by Bishai and Campbell. For the match, Bishai had three assists
and Campbell had two.
The Broncos remain at Niagara for a Saturday night match (Nov.
11). They return to CCHA action with one match next weekend,
Friday, Nov. 17, at Michigan State.
