Oct. 1, 2001

KALAMAZOO -- WMU's Jazz Orchestra will present its first "home" concert of the 200102 season on Thursday, Oct. 4, beginning at 8 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. General admission tickets will be available at the door for $7 each. Students and senior citizens will be charged $5.

The award-winning ensemble was recently featured in a performance with the internationally recognized New York Voices at the Ford-Detroit International Jazz Festival on September 2. The 18-member University Jazz Orchestra has received international acclaim for its high performance standards and creative approach to big band jazz. The ensemble is directed by Trent Kynaston, WMU professor of music, who has programmed a mix of traditional big band swing music and contemporary selections for the Oct. 4 concert.
