Alumna elected to city council in Colorado communityNov. 28, 2001 KALAMAZOO -- WMU alumna Bette Erickson was elected to the City Council of Broomfield, Colo., during elections held Nov. 6. She joins nine other council members and the mayor, representing the 42,000 residents of Broomfield, which is a suburb of Denver. A native of Battle Creek, Mich., Erickson earned a bachelor's degree in social sciences and education from WMU in 1981. A freelance writer, she has previous taught in the Battle Creek Public Schools and the Boulder Valley School District in Colorado.
