KALAMAZOO-- Two Western Michigan University students were among five Michigan college students awarded $1,000 scholarships from the West Michigan chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association.

The WMAWMA annually awards five scholarships to juniors, seniors or graduate students who are attending Michigan colleges and universities and who are pursuing studies in air pollution control, hazardous waste management or other environmental fields.

The WMU students selected to receive the scholarships are William Paul, a senior majoring in hydrogeology and mathematics, from Birmingham, Mich. He is the son of Stephen and Carol Paul; and Julie Ryan, a master's degree student majoring in aquatic ecology, from Kalamazoo.
