Acclaimed classical guitarist comes to campusOct. 13, 2002 KALAMAZOO -- Acclaimed classical guitarist David Leisner will perform in Dalton Center Recital Hall Tuesday, Oct. 22, beginning at 8:15 p.m. The guest artist recital, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the WMU School of Music. Leisner is an extraordinarily versatile musician with a multi-faceted career as an electrifying performing artist, a distinguished composer, and a master teacher. He recently completed an innovative three-concert series at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City, which included the first all-Bach guitar recital in the city's history. Leisner was recently signed as a featured recording artist by Azica Records. The first recordings, one all-Bach and one featuring the complete guitar works by Villa-Lobos, have earned widespread critical praise. Scheduled for release this winter is an album of contemporary music, and appearing in the spring will be a romantic disc of Mertz and Schubert.
