University Symphony Orchestra presents 'Classical Sampler'Nov. 4, 2002 KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra will present a "Classical Sampler" Sunday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The orchestra will begin the program with the popular "Egmont" Overture, Op. 84, by Ludwig van Beethoven and end the program with Beethoven's spirited Symphony No. 8 in F major, Op. 93. The other work on the program is the Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Guest soloist will be Scott St. John, distinguished soloist on both violin and viola and professor of violin at the University of Toronto. St. John will be in residence at Western Michigan University and will present a master class on Friday, Nov. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. He also will collaborate with the Merling Trio on a Dalton Series Concert Saturday, Nov. 9, at 8:15 p.m. at the Dalton Center Recital Hall.
