WFS debuts "The Hard Word" homecoming weekend

Oct. 3, 2003

KALAMAZOO -- Western Film Society presents the area debut of "The Hard Word," starring Guy Pierce and Rachel Griffiths, Oct. 10-12, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Show times for "The Hard Word" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11, and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for general admission.

"The Hard Word" is about three brothers who are experts at armed robbery. They are on their way out of jail on bail, with enough time to complete one more job before they end up back behind bars due to some "paperwork" issues. Meanwhile, their lawyer had begun an affair with the wife (Rachel Griffiths) of one of the robbers (Guy Pierce). The London Movie Review has said "The Hard Word" is a "stylish, well-acted, impressive first feature by writer-director Scott Roberts with strong characters, a quirky script and a cool soundtrack."

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on Western Michigan University's East Campus. Free, off-street parking is available behind the theatre. For more information, call the movie line at 269 387-8221 or visit the Western Film Society on the internet at <www.geocities.com/westernfilmsociety>.
