'Kalamazoo Rendezvous' is Friday downtown

March 24, 2004

KALAMAZOO--The next "Cool City Kalamazoo" event, the Kalamazoo Rendezvous Gala, is Friday, March 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Little Cities Art Gallery, 232 N. Kalamazoo Mall, in downtown Kalamazoo.

The evening's activities are intended as an opportunity for members of the Western Michigan University campus community--especially students--to interact with city residents and community leaders.

Former WMU President Diether Haenicke will speak on "Building the Bridge; Students and Community," at about 7 p.m. Also expected to make remarks and introduce Haenicke is Kalamazoo Mayor Robert Jones. Artwork by Kalamazoo residents and WMU students will be on display.

Food and beverages are included in the price of admission and are being provided by several downtown restaurants, including Aries London Grill Singapore, District 211, Monaco Bay and the Millennium Restaurant Group, which owns and operates The Union Cabaret and Grill, among others.

Admission is $20 per person or $35 for a couple. WMU students will be charged $10 admission.

The Kalamazoo Rendezvous Gala is part of the Cool City Kalamazoo initiative and is sponsored by the Downtown Kalamazoo Restaurant Association and Western Student Association.
