March 15, 2004

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.--Western Michigan University senior Kris Seats of Deming, N.M., competing in WMU's final indoor track meet, earned All-America status in the 800 meter run at the NCAA Championships March 12 at the University of Arkansas

Seats placed 12th in the 800 meter preliminary run at Randal Tyson Track Center with a time of 1:49.56. As one of the top eight Americans in the race, he earned All-America honors for his performance. Seats became the 32nd Bronco all-time to achieve indoor All-America status.

"Chris ran a great race, and we're proud of what he has accomplished this year," said coach Mike Turk. "He represented WMU well at the highest level of competition."

Finishing in ninth place was Battle Creek, Mich., native Aaron Nasers, who transferred from WMU to the University of Nebraska in January.

Western Michigan University announced in December that four varsity sports would be eliminated at the end of the 2003-04 school year. The four sports are men's cross country, men's indoor track and field, men's outdoor track and field and synchronized skating. The change will result in an annual savings of more than $535,000.
