WMU HOME > ABOUT WMU > WMU NEWS Candidates sought for Asylum Lake CouncilJuly 28, 2004 KALAMAZOO--Three positions on the new Asylum Lake Council are open to interested Western Michigan University faculty, staff, emeriti and retirees. The new council and its committees will oversee the use, maintenance, education and research activities approved by a focus group of university and community members for the 270-acre Asylum Lake property, which is owned by the university. Eleven of the 14 members of the new council are being identified through community organizations, city committees and university departments and offices. The remaining three positions will be filled from among interested WMU faculty, staff, emeriti and retirees, who must express their interest in writing to Paul MacNellis, Physical Plant, mail stop 5234, or <paul.macnellis@wmich.edu>. Selection of the three council members will be made August 20.
