Trustees examine updated budget, chemistry building plans

Sept. 16, 2004

KALAMAZOO--An updated 2004-05 budget that reflects Michigan's recent budget decisions and the amount of the state appropriation to Western Michigan University will be among the topics on the agenda when the WMU Board of Trustees meets Friday, Sept. 17.

Meeting at 8 a.m. in Room 157 of the Bernhard Center, the board also will hear a progress report on planning for a new chemistry building. The board approved a move to fast track the project in June and asked to have a detailed plan ready for its review at the September meeting.

Also on the agenda are a personnel report, and gift and grant reports that include the year-end totals for the 2003-04 fiscal year as well as totals for the starting months of the 2004-05 fiscal year. Trustees also will consider the University's annual capital outlay request, a five-year plan the state requires universities to submit that prioritizes the institution's hopes for future building projects.
