WMU HOME > ABOUT WMU > WMU NEWS Sky Broncos resume quest for national titleSept. 29, 2004 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's precision flight team, the Sky Broncos, begins regional competition Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Kent State University. The National Intercollegiate Flying Association's Region III competition is the first step on the road to next spring's national competition at Kansas State University. Coach James Whittles is in his first season as Sky Broncos head coach. His team of 15 has nine returning members from the 2003-04 team, which placed second in national competition. The Sky Broncos won the national championship in 1998 and 2002, and the team has placed in the top three in national competition for 13 years in a row.
