Nov. 9, 2004

KALAMAZOO--Watercolors, pastels and fabric art by Alison Thor is the subject of an exhibit on the main floor of the Upjohn Rotunda of Waldo Library at Western Michigan University. The exhibit is free and open during normal library hours through Dec. 31.

A staff member at WMU since 1989, Thor moved to Waldo Library in 1994 and serves as supervisor of the library's Stacks Department.

Thor majored in art at Kalamazoo College, graduating in 1980. Her artistic focus is watercolor and pastel still life and landscape. Her interest in fabric started at a young age. Several years ago, she acquired a large collection of silk ties and shirts, which directly led to some of the pieces in the current display.

University Libraries is interested in exhibiting artistic works by WMU faculty, staff and alumni, who are engaged in the visual arts as an avocation. For more information, contact Jim Dexheimer at <james.dexheimer@wmich.edu>.
