Comic icon SinBad takes Miller stage Saturday

Nov. 15, 2004

KALAMAZOO--Comic icon SinBad, with his special mix of homegrown humor, story-telling and energy, will take the stage at Western Michigan University's Miller Auditorium for a single performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20.

As a child, SinBad was the consummate jovial jokester. His comedy career gained momentum in the mid-1980s, when he made seven appearances on the popular variety show "Star Search." He eventually caught the eye of Bill Cosby, who cast him on the successful sitcom "A Different World." His film credits include "Necessary Roughness," "Houseguest," "First Kid" and "Jingle All the Way."

Born in Benton Harbor, Mich., SinBad grew up telling jokes to his three brothers and two sisters. Though he dreamed of a career in college basketball, comedy intervened. SinBad toured the comedy club scene extensively until his big break on "Star Search."

The versatile SinBad is a comic icon whose timeless brand of humor has set a standard that few comedians can match. SinBad's vibrancy and solid reputation for clean respectable fun ensures that he will be a major player in the field of entertainment for years to come.

Tickets range range from $20 to $40 and are available by calling (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858, online at www.millerauditorium.com, or by visiting the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office or the Epic Center Box Office in downtown Kalamazoo.
