Flu vaccine available at Sindecuse

Nov. 15, 2004

KALAMAZOO--Sindecuse Health Center has enough flu vaccine to immunize approximately 100 eligible faculty, staff, emeriti and students with chronic illness. It also has a supply of flu mist, an intranasal, live vaccine for healthy individuals 13 to 49 years.

Members of the WMU community are eligible to get a flu shot if they fall into one of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's high-risk categories, which are (1) over age 65; (2) may become pregnant sometime during the influenza season; (3) live with or care for a child younger than 6 months; (4) provide direct, face-to-face patient care; or (5) have asthma, lung diseases, diabetes, heart disease, HIV infections or chronic medical conditions.

Sindecuse will administer flu shots Monday through Friday during the center's normal walk-in hours. The shots cost $15 and flu mist costs $25 per dose. These fees may be charged to an individual's university account or paid at the time of service in cash or by personal check. Credit cards will not be accepted.

For more information and walk-in hours, contact the Sindecuse Health Center at (269) 387-3290 or visit <www.sindecuse.com>.
