WMU HOME > ABOUT WMU > WMU NEWS HR chief promoted to associate vice president Dec. 13, 2004 KALAMAZOO--Laureen Summerville has been promoted to associate vice president and chief human resources officer at Western Michigan University. Summerville, whose promotion is effective Jan. 1, 2005, has served as WMU's director of human resources services since January 2004. She first joined the WMU staff in 1993 and was named manager of wage and salary in the Department of Human Resources in 1994. She was appointed director of staff collective bargaining in 1997 and held that position until 1999. Summerville served as director of human resources services from 1999 until 2004. Summerville previously was employed as a human resources representative at Arthur Andersen & Co. in St. Charles, Ill. She earned her bachelor's degree from WMU in 1977 and her master of business administration degree from Michigan State University in 1989.
